Finance Minister Nirmala Seetharaman said Food delivery apps are to collect 5% GST from consumers instead of the restaurant from which they pick up orders. But there would be no additional tax burden on end consumers who order food from GST-registered restaurants. The changes will come into action from January 1, 2022, that the e-commerce operators can modify the software to charge taxes.

Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association (KHRA) has launched “Rezoy” the Kerala-based food delivery app to support restaurateurs as well as customers. Rezoy is one of the first food delivery apps in India by a restaurant association. In the initial phase, the reach of the Rezoy App is limited to parts of Kochi. However, they plan to make it available all across Kerala. The app charges a 10% commission from restaurant owners to meet the expenses.
